About the Scholarship

The Anton Sokolow-Nikolic Golf Scholarship Fund (ASNGSF) was established by his family to honor his memory. Anton’s passion for golf led him to participate in the VCJGA. This scholarship honors a young golfer of good character, integrity, sportsmanship, and a strong commitment to the game of golf.

 

The 2026 Anton Sokolow-Nikolic Golf Scholarship will provide the recipient with payment of the entry fee for a designated two-day golf tournament, helping make a competitive golf opportunity more accessible.

 

Each applicant will submit an application for consideration to the Ventura County Junior Golf Association. The ASNGSF is part of the Community Foundation for Oak Park, California.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be a current member of the Ventura County Junior Golf Association (VCJGA).

• Be between the ages of 16 and 18.

• Demonstrate good character, integrity, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude.

• Show a strong commitment to the game of golf.

The scholarship recipient will be selected by the Scholarship Committee to include Anton’s mother and the VCJGA Board. Applications will be evaluated based on character, financial need, commitment to golf, educational and personal goals, and the overall strength of the application.

Golf Background

2. List your school golf team(s), golf organizations, tournaments, and other golf experience.

3. List any golf accomplishments or achievements you would like the Scholarship Committee to consider (optional).

 

Essay

Please submit a typed essay (500–750 words) addressing the following:

Describe your commitment to golf, your future plans, your educational and career goals, and the reasons why you would like to be considered for the Anton Sokolow-Nikolic Golf Scholarship.

In your essay, you may also include examples that demonstrate your character, sportsmanship, perseverance, leadership, or how you have overcome challenges. Please describe how receiving this scholarship would help you participate in competitive golf.

School, Community & Leadership Activities

Please list your participation in school organizations, volunteer service, community activities, employment, leadership positions, and extracurricular activities.

 

Letters of Recommendation

Please include two letters of recommendation with your application.

Letters should come from individuals who know you well and can speak to your character, integrity, work ethic, sportsmanship, and commitment to golf. Appropriate references include:

• Teacher

• Golf coach

• School counselor

• Employer

• Community or religious leader

• Volunteer supervisor

Letters from family members will not be accepted.
